My Response to Persecution

Reference Text: Acts 8:1

An accomplished analyst of the Word, a great advocate for the Lord and unshaken defender of the Faith is our beloved pastor! Today, (like always) his message was a “Think and Thank” sermon (giving thought and gratitude to that which is good)!

“And Saul was consenting unto his death and at that time, there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, EXCEPT the apostles.”

The Book of Acts is, according to teachers of the Bible, events of the Holy Spirit! It also records the burial of Stephen, the beginnings of Christian persecution and the spread of the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

Saul (later called Paul) was in agreement with the Jews who stoned Apostle Stephen to death! He watched their (accusers) garments while they committed murder! Saul also was someone who not only participated in the stoning of Stephen, but gave approval for the execution of the church!

Count it a blessing when you suffer as a Christian! This shows that God's glorious power is with you! It is better to choose humility than to be compelled to be humble because of circumstances! The disciples of Christ willingly obeyed His commandments and made sacrifices (Luke 14:25–33).

Christians may suffer in different ways: Some through the waters...flood…fire but all through the blood! We cannot relate to everyone’s experience, but all must go through the blood! Romans 8:18 says: “I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.”

Reminder: God can reveal things to you through suffering! Because the saints were persecuted, Israel scattered throughout the region and were flushed away from their own land. However, God took Joseph from the “pit to the palace.” David from a “shepherd boy to a king;” Moses from being “born in Egypt to leading the Israelites.” No matter what you experience, the Holy One is in control!

God uses His Word to transmit the Good News! It (Truth) was not meant to only rest in Jerusalem! Jesus told the apostles: “You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the end of the earth” – these are the last documented words Jesus spoke to His disciples before He ascended into heaven (Acts 1:8).

The fact is to know that God is able to keep you in a midst of chaos/crisis! The adversary can’t destroy you but realize that for God I live and for God, I’ll die! Jesus is my anchor! I’m going to stand flat-footed because God’s purposes are good! I will walk and think differently now!

Understand this: The inspiration of your life is not determined by the opposer but by the God-Giver! I’m so glad that trouble doesn’t last all ways! You survived; whereas some died! With Rapha, deliverance can come instantly or via a process!

It’s one thing to be chastised, knowing your expectation date will end! Another matter is to be reprimanded until further notice (not knowing when)! With the Israelites, their exile lasted 70 years! The challenge is watching others being released while you remain isolated! One may be diagnosed with Bell’s palsy and was restored but there are individuals who may be stricken extensively!

The butler and baker experienced freedom while Joseph remained in prison! If anyone who deserved recognition, it was Joseph! The apostles had backing because they stayed put! Satan told God that Job would curse Him to His face! But Job was patient and declared all the days of my appointed time, I will wait until my change has come!

Once more, the followers of Christ did not seek rescue but remain there in Jerusalem! Let us prevail in fasting, prayer, faithfulness, honoring the “I Am that I Am” and to maintain a strong mindset! “Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him…” I cried many nights, but I will remain! I wrestled with problems in my life (grief, deterioration, agony, etc.) but I remained!

Anybody ever be on the mountain top? How about the valley? Can you stay in a house or be homeless? What about being the lender and not the borrower? Lord, send me, I’ll go! I will remain hopeful...grateful...obliged! Although the enemy did it, he had to get God’s permission! Satan is an employee of God! He will or can place Satan in your life! “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord…”

Demon, you can’t move me! “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper…” I am not scared of you! “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” I’m not going to run! “Our God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think.” God said it, I believe it and that settles it! “Let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”

With God, there are 5 seasons (not 4): Spring, summer, fall, winter and “New Season.” You will change season but remain faithful! “Because thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will place thee over many things.” “Don’t stop praying for the Lord is nigh…” “Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord.” “The battle is not yours but the Lord’s!”

Put down your knife/gun and let God fight for you! “If I hold my peace and let the Lord fight my battles; victory shall be mine!”   The Lord is my Shepherd but you got to stay right there...don’t move! I have to REMAIN but my responses are praise, prayer and worship! Don’t relapse but STAY PUT!

I thank God for keeping my mind, spirit, body! I should have been crazy/dead but He has kept me in perfect peace! Reiterating: Remain with Him! “My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus blood and righteousness...” As stated, everybody scattered but the apostles! You cannot get an exceptional blessing unless you are the “exception!”

Pulpitarian: You are, indeed, a godsend to us—sent from the heavens above to educate and guide us righteously! Thanks, again for sharing the Word... God bless you & Lady Merriwether always!

SCRIPTURE: Acts 5:20

Behind every powerful sermon stands a preacher who masters the art of connection!   They don’t just voice the Word of God; they exhilarate it! Our beloved pastor is surely among such orators!

The above text is of great power and popularity which caused the Jewish leaders to rise up against the apostles--putting them in prison! But, the Lord sent an angel to deliver them; thus, the theme of this story (5:20) is: “Go your way, stand and speak to the people in the temple the whole message of this Life!”

We see that the apostles were bold & confident when proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ! During that time, men were quick to deny Him but after hearing about the Deliverer, they were willing to die for the Redeemer! The enemy certainly wants us to not serve the Almighty!

They (apostles) continued professing the resurrection from the dead (our Risen Lord) are for believers! The declaration was offensive to the Sadducees. Provoking Thought: Their name fitted them (Sad, you see)! They were trying to shame the apostles! Luke 24 brings the Gospel narrative to a victorious conclusion concerning Jesus' resurrection and ascension; also reassuring advocates of the Supreme One being over death and eternal life!

The disciples (or apostles) were living proof that the same Jesus whom they were with can save people from their sins! Acts 1:8 backs up the aforementioned:   “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”

“…And they laid hands on them, and put them in hold unto the next day: for it was now eventide.” Many heard the results that 5,000 folk embraced faith! The imprisonment was the catalyst that led the 5,000 to not doubt!   The enemy wants to break you! Sometimes, you can be broken by the ones you least expect!   His/her evilness can backfire on you! That’s what humans try to do!

Satan wants to backfire with sickness, hurt, betrayal, schemes, etc.   Everything that you done unto me, God has undone! Those who are down, be encouraged/strong! God will undo what COVID, damaging words, relationships, drugs and other things that you’ve experience. The Lord will restore the years that were not favorable! Realize that “All things work together for the good to them that love God & called according to His purpose!”

Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, they perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, but marveled. Moreover, they took knowledge of them, that they had been with the Lion of Judah! (Acts 4:13). Does your life reflect the Good Shepherd through your walk, talk, dress, attitude, love & other positive things? The ones who had discredited you, will come back & give you laurels due to your Christian characteristics! As stated in Matthew 27:5: “Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.”

Survive your season of discredit! Claim your anointing/victories/happiness! It’s yours for the asking (praying/submitting yourself to The True Vine)! Since you did not break or quit, you have a season of extra credit on the way! “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.”Your boss is coming back; family business; ex-spouse, finances, children, et al that have departed from you! Having the Provider on your side, the enemy, doctors, science, etc. won’t be able to deny you! Remember: “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord and He delighteth in his way.” (Psalm 37:23).

“No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of Me, saith the Lord!” God can allow the ammunition form but not execute or destroy you! Comprehend that “He must increase, but I must decrease.”  “He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: He that cometh from heaven is above all.” Reiterated: Without fail, we don’t want the tricks of the deceiver to embarrass, shame or control you or anybody! Despise the shame…it’s weakening! Jehovah is preparing you to be steadfast, unmovable…always abounding in the work of the Lord!   Repeat: Go, Stand & Speak!” As the song goes: “Lord, Send Me, I’ll Go!

Don’t forget how he rescued you from being homeless, jobless, hopeless & helpless! As the lyrics goes for this melody of praise: “I went to a meeting one night and my heart wasn’t right but something got a hold of me…” Also: “I was sinking deep in sin, far from the peaceful shore. Very deeply stained within, sinking to rise no more. But the Master of the sea, heard my despairing cry. From the waters lifted me, now safe am I.” If I can’t talk, “I’ll just wave my hands.” Recall the following hymn: “How I got over?” How I got over? My soul looks back & wonder how I made it over!” The Holy Writ asserts: “I once was young but now I’m old and I never seen the righteous forsaken nor his seed begging bread.” God wants you to testify how He picked you up out of the miry clay!

There’s no other name under heaven whereby we must be saved! Keep in mind that holy boldness is a vessel of honor! O Father: We need Your righteousness! “If I ever needed the Lord before, I sure do need Him now!” Law Giver: We praise You for who You are! You’re yet working miracles & showing signs. Let us all be ready to Go, Stand and Speak—reaching out to others in a favorable manner!

SCRIPTURE: St. Luke 16:19-23

Today, our pastor didn’t “shrink the story” but said his message is for a mature audience to receive the gospel in its entirety—not just the love of God but His wrath as well! Certainly, we should faithfully proclaim this Glad News in its totality so hearers might repent, believe & escape the torment to come!

The rich man and Lazarus: Jesus told the people a story about two men, one wealthy and one poor. On earth, the former lived in luxury while Lazarus lay in poverty outside the gate of his house. Eventually, both of them died. Lazarus’ soul was taken to Paradise while the rich man’s went to Hades (or hell)!

God told Moses to take off his shoes for he was standing on holy ground! The Lord’s instruction was also an art of humility (bare feet)! The request also indicated that meekness and faith are inseparable!

Worn shoes symbolize walking in “mess” from the streets, working, etc. The Almighty doesn’t want garbage or debris in His presence! Paul articulated in I Corinthians 9:27:  “But I keep under my body and bring it into subjection; lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.”

We are living in a time where healing, grace, prosperity, the love of God are preached but not too much concerning hell! Hades (again, a spiritual realm of evil and suffering) is under & in the earth! Preachers do believers a disservice in these last days of stressing giving (money) but not living right!

Whether rich or poor, black or white; educated/uneducated, et al., all must be saved! If not, both can end up in heaven or hell! Regarding Lazarus, we must understand that when he went to Abraham’s bosom, it was a holding place! It was not the lake of fire nor heaven but again “holding place” until God decides his/her destiny, according to a righteous or unrighteous life!

If you don’t die right, you won’t lie right! Because of man’s disobedience, he has completely taken residence in hell!   “…My people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honorable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst.” Isaiah 5:13.

“Therefore, hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it.” Isaiah 5:14. Purgatory increases on a daily basis! It will never run out of space! It has no limit to get to you!

Proverbs 27:20 warns: “Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied.” Proverbs 30:16 also addresses: “The grave, barren womb, land is never satisfied with water and fire, which never says, enough!” There is no “cap” or seal of how many can come in!

God gives us freedom! He doesn’t want us to serve Him like a robot or zombie! Lucifer took a third of his angels with him when He was kicked out of heaven! As testified in Psalm 121:1-3:  “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.  He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: He that keepeth thee will not slumber.”

The scriptures dispel that there will be no more free turning up with your cup…intoxication, loose living, partying, etc. “Weeping may endureth for a night but joy cometh in the morning.” You have to decide where you want to be! Will it be “This side of the grave” or “That side of the grave?”

The “heaven” (or good times) that you create on this side won’t compare to what will happen when Judgement Day come—if unholy! St. John 14:2-3 denotes: “In my Father's house are many mansions. If it were not so, I would have told you . I go to prepare a place for you.  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”

Many people believe that you are no longer conscious after death! Not so, you are still conscious after you expire! It is not “out of sight, out of mind.” We can see the beggar’s place & nothing could be done about it! Also, “and he said also unto His disciples: There was a certain rich man, which had a steward; and the same was accused unto him that he had wasted his goods.”

Among the last things that an individual (who do not know God) is when he/she is confronted with “You refused to forgive or ask for forgiveness.” Or, doing something evil that you did not get straighten out!   When you could, you wouldn’t. Now, you want to but can’t!

The Savior doesn’t send you to hell; you send yourself because you refuse to comply accept His commandments! Remember, God is plentiful in mercy, truth & love! Don’t play with your soul!

Lamentations 3:21 reveals: “This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope. It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore, will I hope in Him.”

If you dance, don’t be a “dancing devil” but a “dancing deliverer!” Be glad for your conviction…the Holy Ghost is real!” “ For the good that I would, I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.  Now, if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me” Derived from Romans 7:19-20.

Unquestionably, God’s Word is the Truth…whole Truth…Nothing but the Truth! Bear in mind the following verse:   “Then shall they call upon Me, but I will not answer; they shall seek Me early, but they shall not find Me, Proverbs 1:28. There will be a time that the Messiah will not answer you! You may seek but will not find Him!

Micah 3:4 acknowledges: “Then shall they cry unto the Lord, but He will not hear them: He will even hide His face from them at that time, as they have behaved themselves ill in their doings.” Be careful how you treat people! You may eventually need him/her! The tables then can turn on you. Relief is not spelled r-e-l-i-e-f but J-E-S-U-S!

“But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime received thy good things and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now, he is comforted, and thou art tormented;  and beside all this, between us and you, there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us that would come from thence.” St. Luke 16:25 & 26.

Revelations 9:6 uncovers: “And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them.”

Luke communicates: “Abraham saith unto him: They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. And he said, Nay, father Abraham; but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent; and he said unto him, if they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rose from the dead.”

If you choose that dreadful place, you will hear people echo: “Don’t come to hell! There is weeping and gnashing of teeth! Souls are engulfed with eternal flames!” What will it take to cause you to believe? How can you be convinced that your soul is at stake?

If you can’t be satisfied by a dead man, how would you be assured by a living man? God has spoken, shook & scolded you and still you sit in your seat and don’t respond to the invitation of salvation! “The day you hear my voice, harden not your heart.” Avoid the “pain & the flame!”

Souls are asleep and paralyzed! “Get right with God and do it now…” “Who shall ascend into the hills of the Lord or who shall stand in His holy place? He that hath clean hands and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.” Psalm 24:3-4.

I Peter 4:18-19 discloses: “And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?  Wherefore, let them that suffer according to the will of God, commit the keeping of their souls to Him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.”

Somehow, I got to make this journey somehow! Satan on my track & he’s trying to turn me back, but I got to make this journey somehow! Come hell or highwaters, you have been deceived by the enemy! Make up your mind that you want to see the “I that I Am” in peace!!

“O when the saints go marching; when the saints go marching in. Lord, I want to be in that number, when the saints go marching in…” Don’t sit like a “lump on a log.” Make up your mind that for God I live & for God, I will die! Repent of your sins! Soon, the trump will sound and the Lord Himself shall descend from the heavens…” He’s coming back!

The church needs to repent (that includes everyone)! Romans 8:38-39: “For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, angels, principalities, powers, things present, nor things to come…shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

It is dangerous not to be baptized in Jesus’ Name and filled with the Holy Ghost! Quit playing church & surrender! As the song goes: “On a hill far away, stood an old rugged cross; the emblem of suffering and shame; and I love that old cross…”

“Salt and not Sugar” -- The message today from our orator was symbolic of salt—representing purification, cleansing & sanctification! It (salt) has the power to absorb negative energies, purify spaces & ward off evil spirits!   It was NOT “sugarcoated” – at all!!!

We also honor First Lady Shania Merriwether (FLOTA) for her services which have stamped an impressionable mark in our lives!

IF

By Sis. Betty Edmonds, ARChiver of ARC Ministries Inc August 8, 2024

SPEAKER: Bishop Dr. Robert A. Merriwether, Sr.
SCRIPTURE: Psalm 124:1-2

Today, our “powerhouse” vocalist (as named above) ministered (as always) with a purpose—to glorify God and encourage people! The topic “IF” is a small word with a BIG meaning—like assuming, conceding, granted or in case of!  “If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, now may Israel say;  If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, when men rose up against us.”

The psalm is a compelling call to faith--a reminder that when faced with challenges that seem insurmountable, we can confidently turn to the Lord, our Maker and Protector. Verses 1 & 2 is a call to reflect. David starts by asking the people of Israel to consider what would have happened had God not been on their side when people attacked them.

King David is talking about a 15-song of degrees!  These melodies appear in the advocacy of Psalms 120-134. The most likely explanation is that these carols were used as pilgrim songs, sung as the Israelites traveled to Jerusalem to attend the annual feasts!

Psalm 120 and 121 are God being David’s strength. He realized that Samuel’s restraining influence had been removed and Saul would chase him with greater rage than ever. But, he believed that God would be his strength.

Psalm 122 is a pilgrim piece. It’s an expression of joy for the privilege of going up to Jerusalem to worship. Psalm 123 is an earnest call to God for help in time of trouble. The change from the singular to the plural (verses 1, 2) places the appeal on a national level.

Psalm 124 is a song of gratitude to God for His mighty salvation in time of national trouble. Psalm 125 presents the theme that the righteous can be comforted with the Lord’s protection continually. As Jerusalem is secure by its geographical location, so those who have faith in God will be safe from the wicked!

Psalm 126, some believe, celebrates the return from Babylonian captivity (Ezra 1). The second part of the Psalm (verses 4–6) presents a note of sorrow…Psalm 127 presents the idea that man’s work of building is vain unless blessed by God…

Psalm 128 is an idyllic picture of family piety and felicity...Psalm 129 is a song celebrating national deliverance…Psalm 130 is the confession of a sinner asking for forgiveness…

Psalm 131 is a song expressing childlike faith and humble surrender…Psalm 132 is a song commemorating David’s wish to build a temple for the Lord and His gracious promises to the king…

Psalm 133 is a short beautiful poem praising the beauty of brotherly unity…Psalm 134 is an alert to the night attendants in the Holy Place to worship Jehovah and their response. This short Psalm is the last of the Songs of Degrees or Ascents..

As they (Israel) went from song to song, they got louder & louder with praises & honor to the Lord! This is how praise and worship should be toward the Lord: In our life, worship, posture, attention, etc. Again, songs of degree are “ascending” or going up!

Deuteronomy declares: “Three times in a year shall all thy males appear before the Lord thy God in the place which he shall choose; in the feast of unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles: and they shall not appear before the Lord empty.”

Israel made through their pilgrim journey with 3 songs at Jerusalem. They are lyrics of powerful degrees. “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.  My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.”

“I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD. Our feet shall stand within thy gates, O Jerusalem…” (Psalm 122:1). Psalm 126:5-6 pinpoints: “They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.”

Without fail, it is an honor to extol the Master in church! Psalm 133:1 cites: “ Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity…Indeed, pastor’s words included an educational phase! “It was free seminary lessons--right there on the scene!”

Yes, David laid the foundation who was responsible for the victory in their lives! It wasn’t because of his leadership, bravery or skills but his obedience to Yahweh! He realized that  “If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, now may Israel say; If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, when men rose up against us: Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us…”

With David, it wasn’t a positive “rose” but negative---a different kind of rising—not a sign of love but hate! If it wasn’t for Jesus’ blood, we would have been devoured! Opposition can happen so fast even without notice! The psalmist said if the Lord was not on his side, he would have been absorbed! Consuming something that is dead is different than been taken alive! “But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.” Genesis 9:4.

Unexpected things can be sickness; the enemy, depression, disrespect, no money, et al. Ephesians 2:1 maintains “and you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins.” Is your commitment towards the Almighty or man? Don’t have a demonic spirit with death, darkness, disease, unrest, etc. There’s a solution not thru a “prescription” but “scripture!”

Be reminded that “All things work together for the good to them who love the Lord…” Also “Weeping may endureth for a night but joy cometh in the morning.” Additionally, My God is able to supply your every need. When men rise against you, their strategy is to drown you with debt, regret, frustration, payment arrangements, suicide or whatever!

We’re design to breathe above water—not below: I can’t breathe because of raising kids; being single, married or no job! I can’t “breathe!” Don’t allow the devil to suffocate you by being overwhelmed with life/responsibilities! Lord, “When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the Rock that is higher than I.”

Have you experienced something that repeat itself? For example: Abuse, nick-picking; disrespect & so forth!   Such things can wear you out or grind you to a pulp—like chewing! Primary chewing is to break food down until it’s broken in a finer substance! Did you know that it takes 5 to 10 times to chew on a potato…40 times to chew on steak. The average food is 32 times!

Our teeth and the structure of the mouth play important roles in one’s ability to eat, speak & stay healthy. We have 4 kinds of teeth: 1) Incisor is the 8 teeth used for biting, 2) Canines are your sharpest teeth & used for ripping and tearing food apart, 3) Premolars are used for chewing and grinding food, and 4)  Molars are also used for chewing and grinding food. Primary molars, also known as deciduous molars, appear between 12 and 28 months, and are replaced by the first and second premolars (four upper and four lower).

Spiritually, teeth are seen as much more than mere tools for chewing and smiling. They bear profound divine significance, symbolizing power, resilience & communication. Do not allow the enemy to bite or destroy you! Your smile is a universal language that can brighten someone’s day, convey empathy & even heal a wounded heart!   But did you know that your smile is also a window to your soul? The Redeemer can break up cancer, depression, addiction, fear, anxiety, etc. “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, love and a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7.

God can crush anything (sickness, stubbornness, scheming, premeditation, etc.). Give me my “IF” -- The power of IF is in the middle of the word “shIFt!” In righteousness, you will experience a shift; also suffering for if you suffer, you will reign with Him!

“John 15:7 says: “If ye abide in Me and my words abide in you, yet shall ask what ye will and it shall be done unto you.”

2 Chronicles 7:14 acknowledges:   “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, seek my face and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

Psalm 139:8 speaks about “If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.”

“ What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?   as scrolled in Romans 8:31.

“If ye love Me, keep My commandments.” St. John 14:15.

“And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto Me” as proclaimed in St. John 12:32.

Positively, the message was joy unspeakable & full of glory as the Spirit of God prevailed!   Granted, Dr. Merriwether is not only a called & committed leader but a  great navigator who can “stabilize a ship!” His lovely wife, 1st Lady FLOTA is there right by his side who also focuses on the aspects of the ministry!

SCRIPTURE: Nehemiah 2:1-5

The immeasurable greatness of God’s power invaded our hearts today via the Word of God coming from Bishop/Dr./Pastor Merriwether. His topic, (as stated above) was preached with the anointing, clarification & by divine purpose! Included with his sermon was a demonstration about “The Three Little Pigs!” (Building their house with straw, sand & bricks).   The wolf blew the first two down but not the brick one! Let us not allow Satan to blow our house (mind, body & soul) down but be assured of His promises! If our foundation is built merely on our worldly desires & wisdom, then when tested, we would fall like the man who built his house with sand (& the first two pigs)!   If we build our lives on Jesus' foundation, we can live in hope!

The name Nehemiah means “Yahweh has comforted!” The central figure of the book is him! He offers hope and much more. Said book also guides us on how to overcome troubles & trust God. In addition, it shows us Nehemiah’s prayer life, leadership & faithfulness. The emperor, King Artaxerxes of Persia, had great love for Nehemiah (the ruler’s cupbearer) who was required to drink first before letting the king drink. He also was willing to offer his life for him. Then, one day, the king noticed Nehemiah’s sadness and asked him the reason. Nehemiah, frightened, told him about the destruction of Jerusalem, his ancestral home! God can use a heathen nation to do His work! He can also put the enemy on payroll like He did with Job, Nehemiah, Daniel & so many others! Affliction isn’t working for the enemy but is valued for me! Romans 8:28 says:  “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Job 42:12 articulates: “ So the Lord blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning: for he had fourteen thousand sheep; six thousand camels; a thousand yoke of oxen and a thousand donkeys. The Lord used the Babylonians for Israel’s freedom! God can give you benevolence when it’s normal not to have favor--like He did with Israel (land, vineyards, freedom, etc.). You can get the position when you’re not even qualified!

Again, when Nehemiah had the sad countenance, he became afraid. A servant was always to have a good countenance! Psalm 100:4 relays:  “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto Him, and bless His name.” It should be that much more in our daily walk with the Master! Don’t be sad in His house & even when out & about! The Savior can rebuild your life, save your children; heal cancer, diabetes, depression, et al.   One can’t lift up the Name of Jesus with a frown face! Let the Redeemer know that you’re grateful! You can’t hide nothing, because the Chief Cornerstone has a way of revealing the true you! He can work from the inside out, bringing total deliverance! “We bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the Lord…and we offer up to you the sacrifices of thanksgiving and we offer up to You the sacrifices of joy…” Sometimes, praise is a sacrifice to render because of what you’re going through! Don’t allow Satan to have a stronghold on you! In Jesus’ holy name, command that your hands, mouth, feet be unbound so that you can walk, talk & think right! You have the authority to have your whole system honor the Almighty!

Don’t be robbed of your appetite! When you don’t feel like eating, something is wrong! So much negativity is ruling your thoughts (sickness, depression, finance, family, etc.)! There are people who would be happy to trade food for your health, peace, calmness & happiness! Some of your greatest chefs like Paula Deen, Rachael Ray, Gordon Ramsey, Julia Childs; Anthony Bourdain & so many others that are professional & superb! Even their delectable meals can’t satisfy your hunger nor make your life comfortable! Psalms 61:2-4 declares:  “From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.  For Thou hast been a shelter for me and a strong tower from the enemy.  I will abide in Thy tabernacle forever: I will trust in the covert of Thy wings. Selah.”

Yes, Nehemiah was downtrodden; his heart was overwhelmed because the Temple was being destroyed! Thus, no place for the Israelites to worship! He wanted things normal again! Be careful, because disobedience can cause you to lose what you will beg to have back! There are a number of things that you can’t retrieve! “And I (Nehemiah) said unto the king, If it please the king, and if thy servant have found favour in thy sight, that thou wouldest send me unto Judah, unto the city of my fathers' sepulchres, that I may build it.” “And the king said unto me, (the queen also sitting by him,) For how long shall thy journey be? and when wilt thou return? So it pleased the king to send me; and I set him a time.” The Advocate can grant our requests not according to our past but our faith & humility! “The king's heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.” Proverbs 21:1. God can wake up your mind. People can forget what you done for them but Jesus remembers when others forget!

Our Healer is a “Doctor Do!” Analogy: You may have an outstanding balance on your banking account. But, it’s ok to have an overdue blessing, miracle, revelation, etc.—with your name on it! After hearing about the sad state of affairs in Judah, Nehemiah acquired the king’s permission to return to Jerusalem and rebuild the city and its fortifications. He is even given letters from the king to ensure safe passage and to obtain timber from the king’s forest for the gates and walls of Jerusalem. “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction and instruction in righteousness:  That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17.

You have received a letter (God’s Spirit) to rebuild love, faith, family, reputation, etc. You’ve being anointed to rebuild!    “And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15. I got a letter (from Emmanuel)! Job 13:15 admonishes: “Though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him: but I will maintain mine own ways before Him. “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17. Open up your letter (the Bible)! It’s NO fake mail! Open it up!!!! Psalm 126:5 indicates: “They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.” “Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:” 2 Corinthians 3:2. When I show up, the scriptures show up! ARC will build! Every brick is a praise! He has given permission for us to build!  “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:14. This is your season to be blessed! Matthews 16:18 stresses: “And I say also unto thee, that thou art Peter and upon this rock, I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” “I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.” Psalm 118:17. This is your moment; don’t let it pass you by! You have permission by the Carpenter to build! Hope has been burnt down but you can rebuild! God can give you the tools, mindset, blueprint, faith, etc. Don’t throw in the towel! This is your day/time!   It’s not over for you! Thank You, Lord, for me being the letter! “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13. The letter (the Truth) got me through trauma, dark places, obstacles. Thanks for being in my presence, dear God, when I made bad decisions. Surely, I can come before Your throne boldly!

Our blessed orator & wife: Robert & Shania Merriwether, God be magnified as you both go forward in Christian loyalty and service!

SCRIPTURE: Psalm 139:1-8

Our dear pastor is the type that can shake the gates of Hell and set up the kingdom of Heaven upon Earth!” (Matthew 16:18). Today’s sermon proved that via the Word of God & the anointing! “O lord, thou hast searched me, and known me. Thou knowest my down sitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.  Thou compassest my path and my lying down and art acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether. Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid Thine hand upon me.  Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it…”

This psalm poetically explains God’s immense power and knowledge! In this case, David focuses on God’s omnipresence; one would find Him currently in heaven and even in Sheol. For believers, the greatest prospect of The Great Beyond is entering the presence of the Lord! Paul was unafraid of death. He viewed it as an escort into the presence of Christ! The son of Jesse declared that Thou has searched me! Analogies: The police can asked the driver “Can I inspect your vehicle? Parents can search your phone and one can be checked when you go through security, etc. The Lord has and can also examine people! We may hide from our children, parents, loved-ones or whoever. but you can’t run from God!

It can be dangerous to have information about a person as well as beneficial!  Understanding one's personality can lead to better stress management, stronger relationships, and effective handling of adversity, ultimately contributing to personal growth and well-being! The psalmist recognized God’s ability to know that his heart defined his life--showing the importance of a genuine relationship with the Creator! Granted, faith and obedience are the main sources to be drawn to Him! When we are born, the Almighty is aware of every detail regarding us! “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb, I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations…”

Some things you can conceal from man but not The Omnipotent! He knows where every disguises are “tucked” away! Comparison: When cleaning dishes, you can miss a spot or overlook something that is stained! However, the Most High is cognizant of every individual acts. As noted in Matthew 10:32: “Whosoever therefore shall confess Me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.” You can wear yourself out trying to calculate or figure out things! “But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered! Fear not, therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.” Reiterating: “Thou knowest my down sitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.” The Bible says that our lives, which seem so well established and so important today, are really only like a fragile blade of grass!   We may boast of our good health, exceptional strength and long years of sound life. But, our bodies which are active and energetic today, will one day lie cold and still! Like different people in the Bible, we all have inconsistencies. Nevertheless, God can manage every thought! He doesn’t get confused and even knows the number of our days. This psalm speaks of the pervasive appearance of the Revealer, and His intimate knowledge of us, which offer us an outsized measure of hope and comfort in the face of adversity and trial! Once more, He knows everyone’s movement, intentions and desires. When you comprehend who you are dealing with, you know how to handle the plight. Undeniably, the Alpha and Omega knows how to love, save, restore and forgive! He’s aware how to “rock you in the cradle of His arms.” “For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether.” Before there is a word (not sentence or paragraph), He’s familiar with what’s happening! In man’s case, people can be so close but the Messiah is the beginning and ending! He well acquainted with our words, tongue & heart! Nothing isn’t uttered that he can’t interpret! “O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.” (Matthew 12:34).

Jeremiah 17:9 indicates: “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? What a person says is usually what he/she meant. James 1:19 emphasizes: “Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath…” The Chosen One gave us two ears and one mouth; two eyes; a heart & every part of the body. He weighs what comes from your heart—not your tongue! Let us surrender our all to Him! On the day of Pentecost, they were pricked in their heart. That tongue-talking came from the inner being! Repeat: “Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid Thine hand upon me.” If God be for us, who can be against us?” He has me in the palm of His hands! So glad that He has covered me! Like sheep, He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth: He is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so He openeth not His mouth.

Mankind can be like sheep: They’re not the smartest, and they can’t defend themselves. St. John 10:28 specifies: “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.”   A sheep needs a shepherd to protect them! They don’t have claws, porcupine needles; they can’t fly or get away! A dog barks, a cat meows; a lion growls, etc. The best a sheep can do is say “ "baa" - "baa"!” Metaphor: Let us depend on the Healer/Provider for oppression, cancer, depression, finances, etc. As quoted in Psalm 23: The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want…” Also Psalm 139:6: Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain it…”

Jesus died for us. He looked beyond my faults and saw my needs! Let His blood wipe away your situations! He is right here for us! He can eliminate hospitalization, Bells Palsy, children breaking the law, suicide, homicide, etc. Moreover, the Master Card, Capital One or any type of debt. Don’t throw in the towel! “The race is not given to the swift nor the battle to the strong but he that endureth until the end.” Also, “No weapon formed against me shall prosper.” “Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him. He will never leave nor forsake you. Whether you’re in the valley or on the mountain top, He is there to lead and guide. He never sleep nor slumber! Can’t get past hurdles, look unto the Author and Finisher of our faith!

It was He that woke us up this morning…not the alarm clock, workout regiment, music or whatever. Lord: I can’t pay you back but I will worship you! This is your chance! Life can be a heavy burden sometimes. No one understands the stress, weight that’s on my mind. He knows our thoughts from afar off! Kindly realize that peace is with you when God is present! Don’t lose your way, faith, mind! Lord, we honor, praise and worship You, despite the insecurities and mistakes that arise!

O God, you have assured us of traps, stumbling blocks, persecutions, trials and other hardships, but let us believe in You! We lift up our hearts, minds and souls to the Father! Folk: As mentioned, we want to walk in faith even through difficult times! With our Way Maker, we’re looking unto the hills from whence cometh our help; our help cometh from You, Lord, who made the heavens and the earth. Positively, the message regarding “dilemmas and deliverance” were words of hope, inspiration and was thought-provoking!   “Thou, Lord, hast not forsaken them that seek Thee.” Psalm 9:10. We also honor 1st Lady, Shania (FLOTA) Merriwether, for her continued implementation of church assignments! Such dedication absolutely has the capacity to produce God-pleasing results!

SCRIPTURE: Romans 8:36-37

To be more than conquerors means we face the trials of life with the certainty that we are not alone! We have the mighty Father who fights for us!Truly, our orator for today cleared the way, declared the way and then got out of the way—leaving us feeling highly blessed & favored by the Word of God! “As it is written, For Thy sake, we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.  Nay, in all these things, we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us.” Analogy: Insufficient funds indicate that you don’t have enough money in your account to cover an item(s). As we need to increase funds into our bank account. It’s the same with inadequate faith or growth in the Lord. We must build up our relationship with the Almighty via prayer, fasting, faithful to His House, etc.! Regarding the aforementioned comparison, Eld. Zach used a parable about his children wanting to buy something at a store but there wasn’t suitable funds available!   He couldn’t ask for an “IOU;” “wait until tomorrow” or ask the clerk/manager to have mercy! The only thing required was “money!” With the Lord, His requests from us are “faith & humility!”

Isaiah 38:19 states: “The living: He shall praise Thee, as I do this day: the father to the children shall make known Thy truth.” You can be broke but rich with praise! When praises go up, blessings come down! One is never in the negative when you honor God! It has been proven that I made it before and I can be successful again! Perhaps, the day will come when you will not have enough funds in your account “or” faced with a dilemma! Regardless, continue to praise the Advocate for He will make a way somehow! Recognition is comely, because something good is about to happen! We must take God at His Word! St. John 9:3 mentions: “Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in Him. Although said scripture display the negative (man born blind), the Lord want us to give Him glory so the works of God might be revealed.   Also, realize that we have been hand-picked by the Redeemer for any opposition!

When the devil knocks you down, fight the good fight of faith! You need that one on one relationship with Him! Emphatically, as soon as you place your trust in Him, the adversary appears but hold on! We are counted as sheep for the slaughter! We have been wrongly thought of, classified, categorized; abused, neglected, traumatized, misunderstood, etc. Nevertheless, you are victoriously, because you’ve been changed! Don’t allow your identity to make you feel hopeless, depressed or unworthy! You can graduate from school or college but can’t manage this slaughter or jealousy? Know that there is no profit for you over insecurities! Don’t feel like that you have come to your “wit-end” nor be flat-lined by anyone! As articulated: Nay, in all these things, we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us! Nay is when your circumstances end and your identity begins! Nay, nay, nay!!!! The enemy wants you to yield to your circumstances. If you can walk through your situation, you can walk “in” your identity!

I know it looks ugly…nope, uh-huh…not today…it ain’t happening…who do you think you are?   I’m not going to accept Satan’s mindset! I say no to my circumstances and yes to my identity! Continue to accept God! My flesh is dying but my spirit is saying: Nay, I’m not dying! Sure, I feel the pain but Nay, I’m more than a conqueror! Conqueror: You won! I got over it! It’s what it is! More than a Conqueror: A celebratory Moment… more plaudits; It’s what I didn’t see! (hell, sacrifice, suicidal; suffering, et al). There is a difference! I may not have a degree or something tangible to show but I’m still here on earth makes me more than a conqueror! Remember:   I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. Communicate God’s truth in a compelling and impactful manner! Shift your mood towards gratitude and positivity!

Thank you Eld. Humphrey for nourishing our faith, providing us with moral support, and leading us towards a deeper connection with Jehovah-Yahweh! It was an anointed sermon, indeed! Additionally, we honor your beautiful wife, Lady/RN/Administrator, Krystal Merriwether! Ultimately, she is an accomplishment/handiwork of God, working diligently for the Master’s use!

SCRIPTURE: Romans 8:28-31

The message delivered today by our leader was like “f-i-r-e shut up in our bones!” He emphasized that God means what He says! What He declares goes! “His powerful Word is as sharp as a surgeon’s scalpel, cutting through everything, whether doubt or defense, laying us open to listen and obey.” Hebrews 4:12.

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God; to those who are the called according to His purpose. Whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called,  these He also justified and whom He justified, these He also glorified. What then shall we say to  these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?”

The Creator can cause every circumstance to comply to His image, with the intent that many would  rule with Christ as joint heirs. But, the Way Maker does not leave it to us to decide what is good!  He can utilize every single thing that happens in our life to conform us to His likeness!

It is in Romans where the Apostle Patriot, Paul, wrote profound scriptures! He informed us that  all things—not some things--are a life-purpose in which God has ordained for us to accomplish— no matter what the situation may be! He passionately wants us to bring Him the greatest glory  and to maximize His Kingdom-work! Said powerful verses unquestionably give us insurance and  assurance! In this Christian journey, there is a mandate or responsibility! Whatever hindrance or  contradiction that may arise, God will stand on His Word & manifest His will!

Yes, He will allow the enemy to denounce the declaration of His divine power! Nevertheless, know that God said He will heal & take care of the plight! The adversary will have you dwelling  on the contradiction whereas it’s a command in your favor!

Noah: When building the ARK, naysayers mocked and called him a fool! His preaching fell on  deaf ears! His warnings were considered irrational. There was no precedent; never had it  been known that a deluge [or flood] could cover the earth! But through it all, the patriarch had to  keep building despite confrontations!

Moses: God expected Moses to follow commands to the letter on behalf of the people. The Great  I Am told the lawgiver to speak to the rock to bring forth water but Moses struck the rock twice in  anger!

Joseph also became discouraged after God showed him a dream and then his brethren turned on  him but it was to his advantage. Yet, Joseph was given the second highest position in all of Egypt.

Jeremiah: Interference came when he felt God had abandoned him! One could plainly see that  Jeremiah passed through a crisis which shook his faith in the Lord! Notwithstanding, he was  made governor of Egypt!

We must, somehow, learn from our faith! Sometimes, we’re anchored down in our hurt, stress or  challenges! Remember, what God promised, He is able to perform! The enemy is pressing us to  throw in the towel! But, God is able to deliver! If not, all things (no matter what things) work  together for our own good!

When Daniel was thrown in the Lions’ den, his faith was strong in the Protector! Even death is  working for us by the Giver of Life! Can you put your hope in Him? Even death can be a threat to  you but don’t waver or wonder because God is in control!

Paul uttered: “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor  powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall  be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Certainly, he had  a conviction & trusted in the Almighty!

Our beliefs may not all be the same. In spite of that, you will have a different walk or swagger  when you fully rely on Him! There are 5 things that God specified in the primary scripture of this exhortation. They are:

Foreknow: God, in some way or sense, recognized each Christian before we knew Him! Basedon this sense in which He "foreknew " us, God predestined—determined, appointed,  or ordained in advance—those who are saved to be conformed to the image of  His Son, Jesus!

Predestinate: Predestination is the idea that God, being omniscient and omnipotent, has predetermined the fate or destiny of individuals, including their salvation or   damnation, before the foundation of the world.

Called: Being “called” by God is about His breaking into our awareness of Him & drawing us nearer!

Justify: The word justified means “pronounced or treated as righteous.” For a Christian,  justification is the act of God not only forgiving the believer's sins but imputing to him the righteousness of Christ!

Glorify: To glorify God is to mirror His image, which is to love and to love generously as  He does. No one can glorify God as perfectly as Christ did, which is why we are  in need of His mercy, but to believe in Jesus is to believe not only what He did for  us but in the wisdom of the life that He modeled for us.

Jeremiah 29:11 states: “For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, saith the Lord! Thoughts of peace and not evil; to give you an expected in.” When you expect something, you prepare for it! God knew that I was coming, because He formed me inside of my mother’s womb! He is conscious about my imperfections, crippling disease; the abusing. Also, when society said that my nose is too big; my lips too small, He says that I am fearfully and wonderfully made!

The child of God does not have to make plans because they have already been made by the Appointed One! We don’t have to comfy in a fortune cookie, horoscope, Zodiac Sign or call a 800 # to find out about our future!

Understand that the moment my feet hit the floor, bear in mind: “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord…” A caller may say: I’m sorry, I dialed the wrong number! Whereas, God does not make a mistake for He will call you by name! He also knows what He’s calling about!

Isaiah 43:1 articulates: “But now thus says the Lord, He who created you, O Jacob, He who formed you, O Israel: Fear not for I have redeemed you. I have called you by name. You are  mine.” He calls us by name and there is no group call, nor texting. It is a personal call from Him regarding our Christian walk, salvation, commitment, dedication, etc. He is not calling your  parents, siblings, children, friends, but YOU!

Philippians 2:12 tells us to: “…work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is  God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.” You may run in a group but you will go to heaven or hell by yourself! Don’t screen God’s calls. When He calls, don’t  send Him to voicemail! Let Him know about “What Things” you are facing!

Ask the Savior to be a defense around you everyday for He is the defense attorney. His hands,  feet, side, brow proved His evidence when He died for us on the Cross! He will take up for us  because of His blood! Our sins are cleansed when we yield not to temptation!

Paul wrote in the present tense. You can make future tense present tense for He exist & is willing  & able to do the impossible! “What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for  us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31).

“Whatever things” (repossession, sickness, addiction, aggression, et al.) come your way, see the  light through Him! Proverbs 16:7-31 asserts: “When a man's ways please the LORD, He maketh  even his enemies to be at peace with him.” Companion scripture: “Better is a little with  righteousness than great revenues without right. A man's heart deviseth his way: But the LORD  directeth his steps.”

“No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee  in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their  righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.” Isaiah 54:17. Moreover, Exodus 14:14 stresses: “The  LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.”

What Things (life’s woes, heartaches, miseries, etc.)? Regardless, let us trust God no matter how  bleak “things” look. No person or nation, regardless of their power, can thwart God's will. Notice  that there is no explanation mark but a question mark! It’s a feeling of doubt about something!  Thus, don’t waiver nor wait until the battle is over but shout now! In essence, look unto the Lord,  the Author & Finisher of our Faith!

When confronted with any negativity, ask: Who in the world are you talking to? Let him/her  know that I will survive…I know my past, but God is able to keep me from falling and present me  blameless! Who can stop me from having my peace of mind or living holy? When the Redeemer  is in your corner, who can stop you? He is the One who can deal with our circumstances! There’s  nobody like Him!

Truly, our pastor is seen as God’s vessel clad with the whole armor of God, wearing his shield of faith and helmet of salvation—always carrying his sword of the Spirit (Word of God). Likewise, we honor  FLOTA for her love and responsibilities for the propagation of the Faith!

Speaker: Bishop Dr. Robert A. Merriwether, Sr., Pastor
Reference Text:   Matthew 26:36-44

Did not our hearts burn today from the fiery message coming from our overseer! The power of the Lord swept through that place like a strong & mighty wind from His divine presence!

The most important day in our Christian year is Resurrection Sunday to celebrate our risen Savior! He conquered death on a cross and without His reappearing, we would be lost (1 Corinthians 15:17)!

It’s our assignment to spread the “great awaking” so that others may believe, conceive & perceive—His suffering & death! Without Jesus’ sacrificial death, we would be forever separated from Him!

Even when called out of darkness into His marvelous light, our affliction is part of the package! You can go through hardship willingly or forcefully! Running away doesn’t make it easier! After dealing with obstacles, others are waiting on you! There’s no place to run or hide!

Again, no way to escape tests, trials, complications, disputes, etc.--that’s part of life! Remember, that Christ suffered and we must arm ourselves likewise! We must endure with faith! Analogy: If you drop out of school in the 11th grade, don’t expect to go the 12th grade unless you pass the academic tests! We cannot bypass challenges—there’s no option!

You may detour the city but not adversity! You might as well include it on your itinerary! There is an appointed time to face problems! Matthews 26:39 states: “And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.”

Jesus was predestinated as the Lamb slain! Nothing arbitrarily happened but it was exquisitely established! Like our Lord, so shall it be with us—no one can avoid life’s situations!

As cited, suffering is part of the package! Truly, our Deliverer is a way maker! Be determined to submit yourself to the Master & for He is our only hope!

The devil does not impose trouble, but it’s because of God’s will! Things can attack you suddenly even by folk you don’t know! I Corinthians 2:8 declares: “Which none of the princes of this world knew for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.”

People don’t realize what they are doing (all because of sin)! Luke 23:34 conveys: “Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do; and they parted His raiment, and cast lots.” The next time someone offend you, don’t get upset or retaliate! Just prepare for something else that is coming!

It’s nice to know ahead of time what will transpire! Sometimes, it doesn’t work that way! Immanuel has not given us comfort or leisure!   He bore the cross so that we must do in like manner! There’s no warning but how He chooses!   Thus, it’s incumbent upon us to have the whole armor on to fight the good fight of faith!

Being fulfilled in Him is gratification! Philippians 4:11 emphasizes:  “Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.” Content doesn’t mean that things are at peace but you are! You can have a peaceful mind by having that personal relationship with Him!

“Wherefore when He cometh into the world, He saith: Sacrifice and offering thou would not, but a body hast thou prepared Me:  In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure. Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me) to do Thy will, O God.”

Paul was sitting on death row and stared death right in the face! He had peace with God! Yes, money answered all things, but the peace of God surpasses that and all other things! His mind was settled from God’s comfort! Job lost everything but his life! He had contentment from the Advocate! I don’t want titles and lose my peace & joy!

“And said, naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.” Countless individuals lose everything and curse God! “Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him!

Like Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego hoped in the Almighty while in the fiery furnace, we must place our confidence in Alpha & Omega!   Joseph also had peace with God when his own brethren turned on him! They meant it for evil but God meant it for good! Nothing has the power to unsettle you except the Self-Existing One!

When Jesus was in the storm unphased by the environment, He was the peace in the middle of the temptest! “And the peace of God, which pass all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7. Surely, the Father shall guard your mind 24-7, securely with sanctity!

He protects us and has enabled us to comply! Sometimes, His decisions can be challenging and cause you to be confused, but keep in mind who is in control! Isaiah 26:3 articulates:  “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee, because he trusteth in Thee.”

Yes, God is working for me and not against me! Like He hardened Pharoah’s heart, he can fix your enemy’s heart—just for you! Recall how He worked in Moses’ behalf!

Get out of your feelings--It’s not about you, anyway!   Paul told the church “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” We all have something we despise or hate to go through!

The Garden of Gethsemane was a place significant for the Messiah! He was referred in all four Gospels where Christ retreated into deep prayer while in agony!

Like the Vine had been bruised, crushed, stepped on, we must be broken up to be solid! My strength from Him is from being squeezed and pressed!   It’s not easy to use oil from an “olive.” It first must be smashed & crushed, in order to retrieve the coating inside! Jesus blessed the bread and then broke it! There’s a blessing in your breaking!

When you lay-a-way an item, you pay first, get it later! So it is with us: You must bear the cost as a victim—then victor! “And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless, not as I will, but as thou wilt.”

He took Peter, James and John and went to pray! “He saw you” in your sins…at the motel, bar, on the corner; abused body, alcohol, drugs, et al. People change their mind but God doesn’t!   He saw me!!! He sees you when you cry, hurt; your struggles, pain and devastation! You don’t have to live without Him!   When people walked out on you, God saw YOU!

He looked beyond my faults and saw my needs! That why He bled and died on Calvary Cross because He saw you & me! Don’t put your energy in people who don’t love you! There is room at the cross for you! You’ve been battling long enough! Embrace His love, kindness and mercies!

Our orator used analogies and demonstrations to illustrate and enhance his point! Three of the brothers depicted Peter, James and John when they were sleep while Jesus prayed! Also, he took the microphone and placed it on his shoulder accentuating the cross of Jesus! It was so dramatic and put one on an “imaginary journey!”

A wonderful change has come over my life! Take advantage of His many benefits! Many times, we feel abandoned alone & misunderstood, but He kept us in our right mind whereas, we would have given up! Undeniably, His love stretched beyond the cross! O Lord, we give you all of our setbacks; the glory & honor are due your Name!

An added supplement was the Easter Presentation by the children which was conducted so skillfully by Sis. Debra Abner Mitchell! The Praise Dancers also beautifully expressed themselves in love & admiration for the Lord! Overall, the entire service was filled with love, beauty & ecstasy!

We are so grateful that The Chief Shepherd has blessed our herdsman to care & protect his flock via of His Word!  Thus, Dr. Merriwether has embraced the Belt of Truth; Breastplate of Righteousness; Shoes of the Gospel of Peace; Shield of Faith; Helmet of Salvation and Sword of the Spirit!

Moreover, we adore & appreciate his beloved wife, 1st Lady Shania Merriwether (FLOTA), for her love & services that she renders wholeheartedly for the advancing and nurturing of our church community!

Speaker: Bishop Dr. Robert A. Merriwether, Sr.
Reference Text: Matthew 14:21; 15:38

Today, our leader started in low gear…then, BOOM…his message (as above) excelled to a spiritual blast! Whew! Indeed, he is one who can retain what he read & studied, having the anointing and who also has a deep revelation of the scriptures!

“And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and children.”

“The number of those who ate was four thousand men, besides women and children.”

Matthew 14:21 indicate that the total number of people who ate the food Jesus created from five loaves and two fish could easily have been 15–20,000. This verse reveals that five thousand "men" were present, specifically not counting the women and children.

Matthew 15:38: Said disciple saved this detail for the end of the story. The Provider did not miraculously feed a roomful of people from 7 loaves and a few fishes. He fed 4,000 men; in addition to any women and children present. That could have added up to 10 or 12,000 people or more! The difference in this count of the crowd from the previous miracle feeding is more evidence that those were two different events in the ministry of Jesus!

Again there were 2 similar miracles back to back in both chapters; both were related to each other.

Matthew 14:1-12 describes how Herod the tetrarch, ruler over Galilee, and heard of Jesus’ fame and power! He believed Jesus was a resurrected John the Baptist. Matthew then explained that Herod had arrested John the Baptist. His “crime” was publicly condemning Herod’s marriage to his own brother’s wife.

Later, Herod was manipulated into a promise by his wife’s daughter, after she danced for him and his guests. On behalf of her mother, she asked for John the Baptist’s head on a platter (Mark 6:14-29). Herod agreed and had John executed immediately! John’s disciples came and buried him; then went and told Jesus the news of his death!

Again, John was set up by Herod’s wife! He was so pleased that he would give her one-half the kingdom. She danced before him and requested the head of John!

“And the king was exceeding sorry; yet for his oath's sake, and for their sakes which sat with him, he would not reject her.

As human beings, we regret or feel bad of wanting to do wrong, but we give in to the negativity of others. The Sovereignty of God will keep His promise! All of His promises are yea and in Him, amen! 2 Corinthians 1:20. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My words shall not pass away.”

When Jesus heard of it, he departed thence by ship into a desert place: and when the people had heard thereof, they followed Him on foot out of the cities. Jesus beloved cousin (John) just didn’t die but his head was decapitated and served on a platter! John facilitated the Lord when He was baptized in Jordan River!

What do you do when life drives you into a desert place? What happens when you are escorted into illusion/loneliness? Also addicted to pills, alcohol, dark-life style; the bars, promiscuity, etc. Where did life leave you? Jesus went into seclusion and needed moments to Himself…He needed to be left alone!

Sometimes, things just get off track and old with life: Parenting, marriage, new job, et al. Where will this lead me? We know that things can get so bad that it’s best to leave the house instead of doing something drastic in your home. It’s better to burn that gas in your car than burn the whole house down!

The Savior gotten way for moments of humility! What do you do when things (relationships, job, churches affect your entire being). Remember, the Holy One took a moment and the moment took Him! Know that you need time to yourself to refresh your mind, thoughts & attitude! I heard bad news; now, you’re adding more “coals to the fire!”

You’ve messed up my vacation, family, livelihood or whatever! Instead of the Redeemer refusing the people to follow Him, He allowed it! It seemed as though He (the Son) should have been ministered to because of John’s cruel death! But, they were so concern about what they could obtain from the Lord! What about those who keep stressing you out? I need a retrieval, and I’ll call you back! Your continued nagging/complaining are not making me ok!

The Prince of Peace did not have time to grieve properly! It’s normal to be sad and mourn! The fortitude or backbone person also must pray & cry; they are touched and hurt too, but some people don’t think that you are weak and can get weary!

You would have thought that the people would have had compassion on the Lord due to His loss of John! But, they were concern about their own needs and kept following Him for deliverance!

For instance, the Canaanite woman who wanted Jesus to heal her daughter:   “and He answered and said, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs!”  So she said, “Yes, Lord, for even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master’s table.” Then Jesus answered and said to her, “O woman, your faith is great! Let it be done for you as you want.”

Chapters 14 and 15 shows that people want something different in their life! The thing to do is to ensue the Wonderful Counselor—that’s the key! You’re stressing out over feeding your family but Jesus bore the burdens of others! In 14, you see where miracles happened to the Jews and Chapter 15, another phenomenon for the Gentiles!

Philippians 4:19 states: “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus.”

Regarding the 2 fishes and 5 loaves of bread, Jesus blessed, broke it and then gave it away! Before God rescues you, He will break the pride, attitude ego, lazy spirit, etc.

There is a blessing in your breakthrough! It’s a blessing when they lied, cheated, disrespected & insulted you! Thank God for the breakage! It purged me; cost me tears and pain but I thank our Heavenly Father!   “In everything gives thanks for this is the will of God concerning Christ Jesus our Lord today.”

Closing: He (Jesus) used what He already had (2 fishes & 5 loaves of bread). You don’t need something else, “USE WHAT YOU GOT!” Use those green beans, potted meat, sardines, powdered milk, etc. You don’t have to stress out because you don’t have ribeye steak, shrimp and other high-costing foods! “I will bless the Lord at all times and His praises shall continue to be in my mouth!”

Our overseer indeed, treasures the Word of God as a mind of wealth, a paradise of glory and a river of pleasure! He also knows that it gives life, will be opened at the judgment and forever remembered! Moreover, we are profoundly grateful for His beloved wife, 1st Lady Shania Merriwether, for her love, loyalty and labors in kingdom building!

SPEAKER: Lady Shania 'FLOTA' Merriwether
SCRIPTURE: Luke 19:1-10

Today, First Lady, Shania Merriwether preached (as always) the Word at face value; she doesn’t leave no stone unturn! Indeed, her message revealed “Dilemma and Deliverance!”

According to the above scripture/text, we see a tax collector for the Roman government named Zacchaeus. Tax collectors were hated as they are today for they took away from the poor and gave to the rich! Zacchaeus was not only a publican but the chief tax collector!

He also was a schemer! Some of us were not just sinners but chief transgressors, too! We knew where all the parties, clubs and bars were--even before they started! One would even have clothes in the back of his/her trunk. As the head of culprits, you were above others; you were aware of the “back streets!”

Small in stature, Zacchaeus had to climb a tree to catch a glimpse of Jesus passing by! Much to his astonishment, the Living Stone called him by name, telling him to come down from there! That very day, the Prince of Peace went home with him! Moved by His message, the notorious offender turned his life over to Christ and was never the same again!

We must admit that money answers all things (Ecclesiastes 10:19) as we need it to pay bills; for our children and other necessities of life!   There’s nothing wrong having greenbacks, but don’t allow money to rule you but you control it! Absolutely, it gives you more power, influence, etc. However, God admonishes us that whatever we accomplished, let Him be our first priority!

We can go without food, money, prestige and other things, but not Jehovah-Jireh! Psalms 51:11 states: Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. “For I acknowledge my transgressions and my sin is ever before me.”

Zaccheus sought the Master for what He can do and not for who He was! He was told that the Messiah could heal the sick, cast out devils and keep one’s mind in perfect peace! Our Everlasting Father can deliver people from crack houses; take away cigarettes out of your mouth, etc. Thank the Holy One for looking beyond our faults and seeing our needs!

And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature.” Luke 19:3. How bad do you want to see Immanuel?

People will often go to extreme measures to see someone who is famous. Some will pay hundreds to thousands of dollars to go to a concert of performers, also to observe them from a long way off in a large crowd! Others will do some crazy stunt just to get the attention of the famous person!

There is a misinterpreted conception about folk with money--they don’t have problems! There is something greater than prosperity, clout & prominence! Renown individuals seem to have it all, but some things can appear one way but the reality is altogether diverse!

Regarding a filter, it is a circuit capable of passing (or amplifying) certain frequencies while it also can extract important frequencies from signals that also contain undesirable or irrelevant frequencies. Filters hide what you want to see! You can cover a blackeye with a filter! People can put on a visage but hurting and bleeding inside!

Matthew 13:22 specifies: “He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.”

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness ; and all these things shall be added unto thee.” Matthew 6:33.

Matthew 22:1-2 affirms: “And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth; and all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God.”

Don’t chase the bag (money) but let the bag chase you! Reset your “seek!” “He that findeth a wife, findeth a good thing” as declared in Proverbs 18:22. Even be careful when a “skirt” comes to “church.” Introduce that wayward person to Jesus instead of attractiveness, weed or whatever!

Zaccheus found out that some things you can’t control! No matter what I have, this can’t help the situation! With any ordeal, humble yourself under the hand of the Supreme Being!

Repeat: Although the problem is still there, you are not alone! Zaccheus was high in “status” but low in “stature.” In life, some things can blind us from seeing Jesus! It will be wise to choose what we can do versus height, weight, looks, money, etc. Whether short or tall in stature, do not be conceited and want to be seen!

With trees, there are leaves! Leaves cover up! When Adam sinned, he found leaves for concealment! Your attitude can be like a leaf (shielded); Additionally, a hurt child, addiction, uncontrollable spending. Is anyone sick of more leaves? Get free from them!

Concerning the woman with the issue of blood, she was “stuck in leaves” (problems with her body) but didn’t back down! Some people never give up but like to be seen on Face Book! Nevertheless, keep scrolling down and you will find out how the Lord changed his/her life!

Don’t cover (sins) on Sunday but uncovered on Sunday night! Freedom is coming to your house! Someone is going through a toxic relationship, but realize that freedom is coming! Freedom … freedom … freedom! Today is the day for you to be liberated! Again, are you wrapped up in pain, mind, money, children? Take the covers off and look unto Him!

“Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” Can’t you hear the voice: No charge…Mama, I’m back, I’m sorry, etc. Surely, Jesus makes the difference from being sick to healed; lamed to walking; Not tomorrow, but this day, freedom is coming to my house!

We are “freedom fighters!” We are walking miracles! God is calling you! The “day you hear my voice, harden not your heart.” Savior: We lift up Your holy and righteous name!

Truly, we can say this about our FLOTA that she is a true minister who reaches your conscience—not a popular evangelist who reaches your emotions! "Thou, Lord, hast not forsaken them that seek thee."—Psalm 9:10.

Likewise, we honor our pastor, Bishop/Dr. Robert A. Merriwether! Sir: We are always grateful for your kindness and goodwill!

Thank you so much for being an inspiring leader!
